Monday — Daniel J. Laurent, 63, of Butler was charged with being more than 2½ times the legal limit for alcohol and on drugs after a traffic incident last month.

Police said while on patrol about 8:50 p.m. Dec. 30 they noticed a sport utility vehicle stopped for an extended period of time in the southbound travel lane on the 200 block of Lincoln Avenue.

An officer got to the car and asked Laurent why he was parked in the middle of the road. The defendant replied that he was “Letting someone who drank more than him pass by,” according to court documents.

He eventually was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.209 percent. In Pennsylvania, a blood-alcohol level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated.

The toxicology report also showed he had the narcotic painkiller oxycodone in his system.

Police in documents said Laurent has two prior convictions for driving under the influence. He is charged with DUI, driving under the influence of a combination of alcohol and drugs and making an improper vehicular stop.

9:53 p.m. Saturday — Bernard A. Robinson, 57, of Butler was found with suspected heroin and drug contraband after police arrested him for public intoxication.

Police stopped Robinson after he was spotted staggering through the Shell Gas Station on West Jefferson Street, according to court documents. He was taken into custody out of concern for his own safety, police said.

A search turned up a stamp bag of suspected heroin in Robinson’s pants pocket and a used syringe in his jacket pocket, documents said.

Robinson is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and public drunkenness.

7:09 p.m. Wednesday — Kathy A. Stutler, 56, of Chicora was hurt in a rollover wreck that left her trapped in a car in Oakland Township.

Police said Stutler was driving east on Route 38 just north of Hohn Farms Road when the car went off the road and struck an embankment. The car rolled onto its driver’s side and slid into several trees.

Volunteer firefighters had to use rescue tools to extricate Stutler from her car. She was not wearing a seat belt. A Butler Ambulance Service crew tended to her before she was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries.

The Oneida Valley and Unionville volunteer fire departments assisted at the scene. Stutler’s car had to be towed. Police said she faces a ticket for driving too fast for conditions.
