Ron Mager, owner of Major Rental Center, has moved the store to a new site in Penn Township. He also has opened a hardware store there.

PENN TWP — Major Rental Center will celebrate a major addition next week.

The business has moved to a new site at 865 Pittsburgh Road, across from the Dairy Queen, and expanded its operations by adding a hardware store.

Owner Ron Mager said the store will celebrate its opening with a three-day sale Feb. 2-4.

Mager said Trader Horn's closing inspired him to open the hardware portion of the store.“I talked to people around, and they said they needed a hardware store,” he said. “Many people have thanked me for opening it because there's really nothing around.”Mager said the new location is closer to Route 8 and more visible to motorists. He said sometimes people would not notice his previous location, which was across from the now-closed Trader Horn.Mager said he will still rent equipment — big and small — and has plenty of sheds outside for sale.“I've got three solid garages filled with equipment right now,” he said.He said he hoped to fill the void left in the wake of Trader Horn's closing.Mager's store now has paints, small tools and fasteners, which he sells by piece or in bulk. He also stocks specialized items for electrical, plumbing and even mobile home work.“Mobile home stuff is different from regular house,” Mager said. “It's all specialized.”He said he used a combination of his own experience along with an old Trader Horn advisement and his customers to figure out the essential items to stock.“I can't have everything, but that's why I'm listening to the customers,” Mager said.
