Aviary presents 'Bird Brains' show this month

A hyacinth macaw cleans up as part of a free flight show at the National Aviary. “Bird Brains,” about the feathered friends' intelligence and adaptations, continues through January.

PITTSBURGH — Free flight bird shows and other activities continue at the National Aviary, 700 Arch St.

Through January, “Bird Brains” shows colorful parrots competing in an obstacle course, and exhibits the friendliness of flamingos.

Also on display are the clever crow, majestic owl and adorable penguin as they each demonstrate their intelligence and adaptations.

“Bird Brains” begins at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. daily, except for Tuesdays when the birds are resting.

Amazing Amazon, beginning March 3

Baby Sloth Talks, 12:30 p.m. daily

Penguin Chick Talk, 2 p.m. daily

Masters of the Sky, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday

Flamingo Fest, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 24 and 25

The aviary is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Admission is $15 for adults, $14 for senior citizens and children age 2 to 12, and free for those younger than 2.
