Fishing license may have digital option
HARRISBURG — Pennsylvania anglers may soon be able to ditch their paper licenses for something digital.
The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission awarded a 10-year contract to Nashville-based Sovereign Sportsman Solutions, which promises to bring smart phone capabilities to the Pennsylvania’s fishing industry.
Commissioners during their quarterly business meeting witnessed the technology’s capabilities, which would allow anglers to buy the license and keep the license images on their devices to use as a proof of purchase.
The transition to the new system is expected to take about a year to implement.
