Brian White

Brian White, Butler School District superintendent, has received the 2018 Distinguished Educator Award from the University of Pittsburgh’s Tri-State Area Study Council.

White was hired by the school board in August and started work at the beginning of the school year. He previously worked as superintendent for the Chartiers Valley School District in Allegheny County.

The award has been presented annually since 1981 to recognize men and women who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and made extraordinary contributions to education, according to the Tri-State Area Council.

“Since joining our district in September, Dr. White has brought our community together and led us through the process of strategic planning,” said Nina Teff, school board president, in a news release. “Although his time at Butler has been short, his ability to collaborate with faculty and staff, and engage our community to create a vision for our future truly makes him a distinguished educator. On behalf of my colleagues on the school board, I’d like to congratulate Dr. White on this well-deserved honor.”

White, in the release, said he was humbled.

“I’d like to thank my colleagues in education for their support throughout my career. I’d also like to thank the Butler Area School District school community for welcoming me to the district as the superintendent this year,” he said.

White will be recognized at the 70th School Board and Distinguished Educator Banquet March 15.
