Man placed in ARD program

Jonathan R. Sosa

A Slippery Rock man charged with drugged driving and drug possession was entered into the county Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program Wednesday.

Jonathan R. Sosa, 19, was placed into the program with two years of probation on charges of felony possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, three misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count each of misdemeanor driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of an instrument of crime by President Judge Thomas Doerr.

He was also ordered to pay court costs, complete 70 hours of community service, complete a drug and alcohol assessment and any recommended treatment, attend an alcohol highway safety school, complete eight hours of the county litter pickup program and attend a victim impact panel.

The charges stem from a July 23 incident in the parking lot at Slippery Rock Community Park at 2:40 a.m., after Slippery Rock police investigated two parked vehicles for a trespassing violation.

In one of the vehicles, police said Sosa was in the driver's seat with two female passengers, a 19-year-old Harrisville woman and a 16-year-old girl from Volant, Lawrence County.

A search of the vehicle would yield a cache of drugs, including 30 grams of marijuana and 3.09 grams of hashish and pills, as well as an electronic scale, other contraband and $546 in currency, according to court documents.

Sosa admitted that he occasionally smokes marijuana, but he also acknowledged that he has been selling the drug since January, documents state.

He admitted to selling marijuana to the two females. Inside the other vehicle, owned by the Volant girl, police said a baggie of marijuana was found.
