SLIPPERY ROCK — Micah Till and Brandon Simmons both produced double-doubles Saturday as the Slippery Rock University men’s basketball team defeated California (Pa.), 85-74, at Morrow Field House.

The victory was the 10th in a row for SRU (12-2, 6-2), which moved into a tie for second place in the PSAC West. The Rock travels to first-place Indiana (Pa.) Monday night.

The Rock had a massive 54-31 rebounding edge and scored 27 second-chance points.

Till had 20 points and 17 rebounds, Simmons 13 points, 10 rebounds and four blocked shots. Bruce Spruell contributed 18 points, five rebounds and four assists, Merdic Green 17 points and eight rebounds.

Jahmere Howze paced five players in double figures for California, netting 22 points for the Vulcans (6-8, 2-6).

California 71, SRU (women) 62 — The game featured 11 lead changes and five ties — the last deadlock at 56 with 3:58 to play — before No. 10 California pulled away for the win.

Morgan Henderson led The Rock (7-6, 5-3) with 15 points. Brooke Hinderliter added 12 points and 11 rebounds, Madison Johnson 12 points.

Shatara Parsons, the PSAC’s leading scorer, led California (13-1, 8-0) with 30 points and nine rebounds.

SRU travels to No. 3 Indiana (Pa.) Monday night.

Penn State Fayette 76, Butler County Community College 73 — The Pioneers slipped to 1-13 on the season after holding the lead at halftime.

Kaden Rock led BC3 with 24 points. Joel Stutz netted 22 and Brendan Record 10. Justice Lewandowski grabbed 13 rebounds.

Butler County Community College (women) 84, Penn State Fayette 64 — Mackenzie Craig tallied 34 points and 30 rebounds as the Pioneers (2-12) earned their second win of the season.

Lydia Roth posted the first triple-double of her BC3 career, scoring 22 points, grabbing 13 rebounds and dishing out 10 assists. Carly Burdett had 21 points and 12 rebounds.
