Man apologizes to court, victims in multiple cases

R. Jarrod Price
He's sentenced to state prison

A Butler County man already sentenced to state prison in three unrelated cases pleaded guilty and was sentenced in Butler County court on Tuesday, in relation to a burglary case.

R. Jarrod Price, 36, pleaded guilty to felony criminal trespass before Judge Timothy McCune. He was sentenced to one to two years in a state correctional facility, followed by one year of state probation, to run concurrent with a sentence of one to two years he received from Judge William Shaffer in April, in three unrelated cases. He was also ordered to pay restitution and court costs.

Price was initially charged with felony burglary and criminal trespass, as well as misdemeanor theft and criminal mischief after an incident at the S & S Market on North Road in Franklin Township on Jan. 15. The remaining charges were dismissed as part of the plea.

Pennsylvania State Police filed the charges after investigating a burglary in which eight cartons of cigarettes were stolen. Police said Price's former-girlfriend came forward and reported to police that he admitted his involvement in the incident.

Police suspect that Price threw a brick through the front door window of the store and then made off with eight cartons of name-brand cigarettes valued at $590.86, according to court documents.

Three days after the break-in, Price got into a dispute with his ex-girlfriend. He allegedly took off in her sister's car without permission, and threatened his ex-girlfriend's life. After the woman reported the threat to police, she also advised investigators that Price had confessed to the S & S Market burglary, documents said.

Price was arrested Jan. 20 in the threat case, and was charged with terroristic threats, harassment and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

Price was sentenced to one to two years in state prison after pleading guilty to charges including felony forgery, misdemeanor receiving stolen property and terroristic threats and ordered to pay $8,218.73 in total restitution in incidents on Jan. 18, June 18 and Sept. 14.

The Jan. 18 incident followed the theft of the vehicle and he threatened to burn it in Rochester, Beaver County, as well as threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend; the June incident occurred in Slippery Rock Township, and the September incident occurred in Franklin Township.

Price apologized to the court and victims during the proceeding.
