[naviga:h3]DA: Fatal shooting of teen was justified[/naviga:h3]

PENN HILLS — Prosecutors say a man won’t face a homicide charge in the shooting death of a teenager near a suburban Pittsburgh middle school earlier this year.

The Allegheny County district attorney’s office said the 23-year-old was justified in firing at 16-year-old Deven Holloway on March 28 in a parking lot near Linton Middle School in Penn Hills.

Defense attorney Phil DiLucente said his client was there to play basketball and was defending himself from Holloway, who officials said was a student in the Penn Hills school district but didn’t attend the school.

[naviga:h3]Trial delayed for ex-police officer[/naviga:h3]

GREENSBURG — A judge has granted a request to delay the trial of a former police officer accused of having raped a drug informant as he threatened to file new charges against her.

Ryan Reese, 44, worked for the Connellsville department in 2011 when authorities allege that he raped the woman after finding heroin and drug paraphernalia while visiting her home.

Earlier this month, a Fayette County jury convicted Reese official oppression but acquitted him of rape and other counts.
