SRU presents 'Shades of Bublé'
SLIPPERY ROCK — A trio of singers will present “Shades of Bublé” at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 3 in the University Union multipurpose room at Slippery Rock University.
The concert, which features songs recorded or performed live by Michael Bublé, is part of the university's Performing Arts Series. Members of the SRU Jazz Ensemble will back up the vocalists.
The tribute show pays homage to what Bublé brings to his concerts while engaging fans with new three-part vocal arrangements.
“Shades of Bublé” combines big-band standards from the jazz era, classic hits from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, and Billboard chart toppers from today in a high-energy show.
With three voices singing songs like “Feeling Good,” “Moondance,” “Come Fly with Me,” “Home,” “Everything,” “Fever” and “Save the Last Dance for Me,” “Shades of Bublé” has won standing ovations in sold-out shows across the country.
On stage with the three vocalists and pianist will be Jazz Ensemble musicians Kyle Strain, tenor saxophone and clarinet; Jeanne Marie Stalteri, alto saxophone and flute; Josh Bonnici, trumpet; Wesley Woodward, trumpet; David Vevers, trombone; Baylee Summerhill, bass; and Justin Vorp, drums. The ensemble is under the direction of Jason Kush.
Tickets are available by calling 724-738-2018 or online at www.sru.edu/pas.
The Performing Arts Series will continue on Feb. 2 with the Legacy Motown Revue with Sound Express, which showcases classic Motown sound with contemporary soul music, directed by band leader Stan Stigall from Bill Pinckney's original Drifters; and March 25 with the Young Irelanders, eight performers presenting traditional Irish music, song and dance.
