BUTLER TWP — An unidentified man died of injuries from a two-vehicle accident Tuesday on North Main Street Extension, township police said.

The T-bone crash involved a Chevrolet Tracker SUV and a Ram pickup truck around 3:15 p.m. at the intersection of Route 8 and Evans Road, near the Bon Aire shopping plaza.

The man was extricated from the SUV by firefighters and taken by Butler Ambulance Service to Butler Memorial Hospital, Mercer Road Fire Chief Kevin Kelly said.

The man died at the hospital, said Butler County Coroner William Young III. An autopsy was planned for Wednesday morning, he said.

The driver of the truck, a woman, was not injured.

Traffic on the road was restricted to one lane in each direction for almost four hours while police investigated.

Butler Township police are investigating the incident, though a state police reconstruction unit was called to assist. The South Butler and Butler City fire departments assisted at the scene.
