Nearly 300 Butler County residents will now be braced for cold temperatures around the bend, after coats were handed out today as part of an annual clothing drive.

Bundle Up Butler, an event to provide free warm winter clothing for school-aged children and seniors, was held at the Butler City Farm Market. At the event, 286 coats were handed out to 112 families.

Butler human services agency Center for Community Resources, in conjunction with the Butler Health System and the Butler Collaborative for Families, put on the event.

Coats, gloves, scarves, hats and blankets were also distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, as well as children’s’ clothing by AmeriCorps volunteers.

For community members who were unable to make the event on Monday, the drive continues until the end of the month. Those interested must call CCR and register by calling 724-431-3748.
