Firefighters respond to a fire at 160 Old Plank Road.

Several residents of the Old Plank Estates were displaced as the result of a fire Friday afternoon.

Fire departments were dispatched to 160 Old Plank Estates, off Old Plank Road in Butler Township for a structure fire at 2:17 p.m.

Fire Marshal Larry Christy said when fire units arrived on the scene, they found a bedroom of an upper apartment in the building fully engulfed in flames.

The fire extended into the hallway of the structure, and responders put out the flames quickly, he said.

Crews were still on the scene checking for any hot spots and investigating the cause of the blaze.

While no cause is currently known, Christy said he is working on getting a tenant list of the building to set up accommodations, as all tenants will be displaced while crews clean up the scene.

Butler Township Fire Department, Butler City Fire Department, Penn Township, Adams Area Fire Department and Butler Ambulance assisted at the scene.
