Evans City man pleads to assault charge

Nicholas A. Brittner

An Evans City man, charged with assaulting his girlfriend before two good Samaritans stopped the attack, pleaded guilty in Butler County Court on Wednesday.

Nicholas A. Brittner, 29, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor simple assault before county Judge William Shaffer.

The plea agreement calls for a sentence of probation, complete anger management classes, fines and community service.

Adams Township police filed the charges after an incident on Crider Road, where Brittner allegedly choked his girlfriend, 26-year-old Ashlee Morrison, and threw her on the ground.

A motorist saw “a woman running from a man” and stopped to help, police said. According to court documents, Morrison asked the woman to “stay with her so Brittner would not hit her anymore.”

A full report will appear in the Butler Eagle.
