A Butler man charged with injuring police officers while resisting arrest was immediately paroled on time served after being sentenced to county jail in Butler County Court on Thursday.

Joshua P. Luchkiw, 31, was sentenced to six to 18 months in Butler County Prison and was immediately paroled on time served by Judge Timothy McCune.

Butler police initially filed charges after they say Luchkiw attacked his girlfriend at the couple's home on Hickory Street while she was sleeping on a sofa.

About eight hours later, police were again at the home after the woman called to report that Luchkiw was back.

Luchkiw was found seated in a vehicle at the home and when officers tried to take him into custody, he resisted, documents said.

Police said he grabbed and tore an officer's jacket and kicked him before he was taken under control.
