Freeport resident Camerlo honored
NEW WILMINGTON — Freeport resident and St. Joseph graduate Morgan Camerlo, a sophomore on the Westminster College cross country team, has been named the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Women’s Runner of the Week.
Camerlo finished first in Friday’s 71-runner Washington & Jefferson Invitational. She completed the course in 19 minutes, 9.30 seconds.
SRU football team moves up to No. 12
SLIPPERY ROCK — Following its 47-44 overtime upset of fifth-ranked California (Pa.), the Slippery Rock University football team has jumped from No. 18 to No. 12 in this week’s American Football Coaches Association NCAA Division II poll.
Indiana (Pa.) is ranked No. 4 and California dropped to No. 16.
The Rock is averaging 44 points per game, seventh-most in Division II this season.
BCC places 5th at Jamison Cup
Butler Country Club placed fifth out of 12 clubs in the team portion of the Jamison Cup golf tournament, which concluded Monday at Nemacolin Woodlands.
BCC finished 26-over-par while champion Oakmont was 4-over-par. Individually, BCC’s Robert Stoops tied for 15th with a 7-over-par 151 and Jon Pratkanis tied for 18th with a 9-over-par 153.
