BUTLER TWP — The Butler Transit Authority announced at its monthly meeting Tuesday that new compressed natural gas coach buses will arrive by the end of September.

Five MCI coach buses will arrive by the end of the month, but a GPS system, cameras and various equipment will need to be installed before they are usable. Three Gillig buses will follow in October, and will be fully equipped upon arrival.

John Paul, transit authority executive director, said the authority is waiting on funding from PennDOT before the buses can be put into service.

He had no estimate for when the funding will arrive.

The authority is seeking bids for temporary fueling of the buses while its fueling station is being built.

Paul expects the station to be completed by early spring of 2018.
