Summit Academy student in jail awaiting assault hearing
SUMMIT TWP — A student faces a hearing next week on charges he attacked a staff member at the Summit Academy reform school.
Nathaniel Tate, 19, of Philadelphia is in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail. He faces felony assault and other charges.
State police said Tate on Sept. 1 “bull-rushed” employee Jordan Ondish into a door at the school for court-adjudicated youth and young adults, ages 14 to 19, according to court documents.
Ondish told police that the teen used his shoulder to push her into the door. She suffered a bruise and other unknown injuries to her left arm.
District Judge Kevin O’Donnell arraigned Tate on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct.
A preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. Sept. 12 at the office of District Judge Lewis Stoughton in Chicora.
