A Venango County man arrested last month in Slippery Rock and charged with drug possession will be extradited to Nebraska to face similar charges there.

Emmett A. Freshcorn, 29, of Cranberry was arrested at the Fairfield Inn on University Parkway on Aug. 27, after borough police responded to a call about a suspicious person checking into the hotel.

Police, in court documents, said that after they took the call an officer ran Freshcorn’s name through a police database and found an active warrant out of Nebraska, where Freshcorn had been arrested for possession of a controlled substance in May after a car he was driving was pulled over for following too closely and he was found with a bag of marijuana in his pocket.

The Lancaster Sheriff’s Office, which performed the traffic stop, also reported finding five grams of heroin in 50 “user bags,” hash oil and 10 hits of LSD in the car — though it wasn’t clear from media reports who claimed possession of those drugs.

Back in Slippery Rock, police arrived at the Fairfield Inn to find Freshcorn in a room with another man, and found multiple stamp bags of heroin as well as a small amount of marijuana and a pipe in the room.

A search of Freshcorn’s vehicle found several empty stamp bags, police said, and Freshcorn told officers that the drugs belonged to him.

According to court documents, Freshcorn is in Butler County Prison on $25,000 bail stemming from charges of drug possession with intent to deliver, possession of marijuana and use or possession of drug paraphernalia.

Those charges stem from the Fairfield Inn arrest. Freshcorn also had a $50,000 bail set stemming from the active warrant from Nebraska, according to court documents, and the Lancaster Sheriff’s Office has indicated that they will extradite him to Nebraska to face possession charges there, according to court documents.
