Christian Mahoney

An Allegheny County man, charged with breaking into an apartment in Slippery Rock Township, pleaded guilty in Butler County Court on Wednesday.

Christian J. Mahoney, 21, of Verona, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor criminal trespass and summary harassment before county Judge Timothy McCune.

The plea agreement calls for a sentence of 12 months' probation, restitution, 100 hours of community service, fines and completion of anger management course.

Mahoney was initially also charged with felony burglary and summary criminal mischief, which were dismissed as part of the plea.

The charges stem from a March 28 domestic dispute between Mahoney and his ex-girlfriend, who lives at the apartment at The Grove on Harmony Road in Slippery Rock Township.

The alleged victim, Megan H. Esquino, told state police that the defendant damaged a lock and door handle while entering the apartment without her permission or knowledge. He allegedly grabbed and pushed Esquino.

While the woman later tried to leave in her roommate's car, documents said, Mahoney “pulled her from the vehicle throwing her to the ground.” He fled and was gone when police got there.

Mahoney was arraigned and placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail following arraignment, which was later changed to unsecured and he was released.
