BUTLER CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

COVENANT PRESBYTERIAN

Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St., returns to an 11 a.m. worship service Sunday. The service includes a blessing for the diapers donated to Catholic Charities for the pregnancy and parenting support group.

The Rev. James Campbell, a retired Presbyterian minister, leads the seekers class Sunday in the assembly room.

There is a potluck luncheon in the assembly room following the service.

FIRST BAPTIST

Ladies from First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., are attending the ladies’ retreat Friday and Saturday at Slippery Rock Baptist Camp, 130 Elliott Lane, Slippery Rock. For more information, call the church at 724-287-7241.

The all-church picnic begins at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Odd Fellows Gazebo at Alameda Park, 184 Alameda Park Road. The afternoon includes a devotional, games and fellowship.

Connecting Threads meets at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ponderosa, 128 Clearview Circle.

FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN

First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., begins the fall schedule Sunday with worship services at 8:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday school resumes at 9:45 a.m. for children 3 and older.

GRACE@CALVARY LUTHERAN

Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St., will have ladies’ night out at 5:30 p.m. today at Rock Ann Haven, 141 Greenwood Drive.

The fellowship and music committee meets at 10 a.m. Friday in the ladies’ lounge at the church.

Grace’s Closet, a free clothing bank, is open from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.

The evangelism and stewardship committee meets following worship Sunday in the library.

On Tuesday, the finance committee meets at 6:30 p.m. and the worship and music committee meets at 7 p.m.

GRACEWAY

GraceWay meets at Center Township Elementary School on Mercer Road.

HILL UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

The Hill Quilters of Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St., meet at 9 a.m. Friday.

The women’s book club meets at 12:15 p.m. Sunday in the hall lounge.

The pastor nominating committee meets at 6 p.m. Tuesdays in September.

Wednesday is the deadline to register for the Sept. 18 senior night out.

The food request for September is pasta or spaghetti sauce.

MARS UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Mars United Presbyterian Church, 232 Crowe Ave., Mars, has Rally Day and blessing of the backpacks at the 10 a.m. Sunday service. There is a luncheon afterward.

The youth group meets at 5:30 p.m. Sunday for middle school students and at 7 p.m. for high school students.

Women’s Bible study begins at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Also that day, Griefshare meets at 6:30 p.m. and the buildings and grounds committee meets at 6:30 p.m. in the board room.

On Wednesday, there is a worship meeting at 6 p.m. and chancel choir practice at 7 p.m.

NORTH MAIN STREET CHURCH OF GOD

North Main Street Church of God, 1201 North Main St. Ext., has ladies Bible study at 9:45 a.m. every Tuesday. Childcare is provided.

MOPS and MOMSNEXT meet at 9:15 a.m. the first and third Wednesday each month in the Life Center. For more information, call the church office at 724-285-4214. Childcare is provided.

Encounter, an experience and journey into the church’s life and ministries, is at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. There are fun and games for children age 4 to sixth grade. Childcare is available for infants through age 3.

OLD UNION PRESBYTERIAN

Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars, has a picnic after worship Sunday. Take a covered dish to share. Meat and beverages are provided.

RIDER LUTHERAN CHURCH

Rider Lutheran Church, 189 Rider Church Road, West Sunbury, has Rally Day and Grandparents Day Sunday.

The steering committee meets at 7 p.m. Monday and the council meets at 8 p.m.

SAINT ANDREW UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

The Chanticleer Ringers resume rehearsals at 6:15 tonight and the chancel choir resumes at 7:30 p.m. at Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Jefferson St.

Rally Day 2017 includes a Sunday school kick-off breakfast at 9:15 a.m. and a worship service with blessing of the backpacks, commissioning of Sunday school teachers and the Lord’s Supper.

The September mission offering supports our sponsored child at the Indo-American School for Children.

SAXONBURG MEMORIAL

Saxonburg Memorial Presbyterian Church, 100 W. Main St., Saxonburg, has Praise and Picnic in the Park at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 17, at Roebling Park/Cooper Hall, 147 N. Rebecca St., Saxonburg. It includes live music, games and family fun.

ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN

St. John’s Lutheran Church of Connoquenessing, 100 Main St., Connoquenessing, returns this week to an 11 a.m. Sunday service for fall and winter.

The cause of the month is the Healing Heroes Fund sponsored by the Armstrong Group in partnership with the Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs Inc.

The Church Council is updating a prayer chain that includes all congregation members. Contact a Church Council member to have your name omitted from the list.

ST. JOHN LUTHERAN

A weekly youth group gathering starts at 9 a.m. Sunday at St. John Lutheran Church, 420 Beaver St., Mars.

The quilting group meets at 6 p.m. Monday.

The Music Together fall session begins at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the fellowship hall.

ST. JOHN’S REFORMED

St. John’s Reformed Church, 494 Evans City Road, has a Sunday school Rally Day breakfast at 9:45 a.m. Sunday.

ST. LUKE'S LUTHERAN

The sewing ministry of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 310 W. Main St., Saxonburg, offers light lunches from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the fellowship hall during the Arts Festival.

The quilt show opens at 10 a.m. Saturday and noon Sunday. A quilt will be given away at 5 p.m. Sunday.

The outreach and evangelism ministry leads the 2 p.m. Sunday worship service at Saxony Health Center, 223 Pittsburgh St., Saxonburg.

Council meets at 7 p.m. Monday.

The stars group leaves the church at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday for lunch at the Villa Restaurant, 1563 Ford City Road, Kittanning.

St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran

TRINITY LUTHERAN

Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, Center Township, has a men’s ministry breakfast at 8 a.m. Saturday in the fellowship hall.

Blood-pressure screenings are after the Saturday service and between services Sunday.

Service times return to 8:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday. Rally Day is at 9:40 a.m. and the outreach ministry meets between services.

The September gathering is at Rhonda and Randy’s home at 6 p.m. Monday.

The stewardship ministry meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

On Wednesday, the health and wellness committee meets at 6:30 p.m. and the property committee meets at 7 p.m.

VALENCIA PRESBYTERIAN

Valencia Presbyterian Church, 80 Sterrett St., welcomes the Rev. Marian Carmical at 10 a.m. Sunday. The service includes Communion.

The women’s Sunday morning Bible study resumes at 9 a.m. and the 4:12 youth group starts the fall with a bonfire and cookout at 6 p.m.
