Warriors open with 21-6 win

Moniteau's new offense is off to a good start.

Wyatt Geibel caught eight passes for 124 yards, Cody Wise rumbled 53 yards for a score and quarterback Chance Nagy ran and also threw for a touchdown as the Warriors beat St. Marys on the road Friday night in coach Jon McCune's debut, 21-6.

“The offense really clicked,” McCune said. “It's coming together really well.”

Nagy rumbled 10 yards for a score and also found Nick Martino for a 6-yard score to give Moniteau a 14-6 lead at the half.

Wise, who gained 72 yards on just six carries, put the exclamation point on the win with his long touchdown run.

“I'm excited,” McCune said. “We're moving on to Punxsutawney at home (next week).”

Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic 12, Neshannock 7 — Cameron Branch caught a 35-yard touchdown pass from Zach Rocco to give the Trojans the lead for good in the second quarter in this win.

Rocco threw a pair of TD passes, hitting Ryan Mariarz with a 20-yard score to open the scoring.

Billy Presnar scored on a 20-yard run for Neshannock in the second quarter for a 7-6 lead, but North Catholic responded and the defense did the rest in the second half.

Grove City 42, Warren 2 — Logan Lutz rushed for 136 yards and a touchdown and Trey Adams and Tyler Greer each added a pair of rushing touchdowns in the Eagles' rout.

Lutz also had six receptions for 59 yards.

Brady Callahan, making only his second varsity start, completed 13-of-15 passes for 174 yards and a touchdown.

Grove City (2-0) held Warren (0-1) to just 90 yards of total offense and rolled up 533 yards itself.

Girls Soccer

McKenna Robinson scored three goals, including the game-winner, as Butler won a wild 4-3 decision over South Park in the season opener.

Robinson opened the scoring with a goal off a penalty kick to tie the score at 1-1 at the half.

Maci Lineman also scored for Butler on another penalty kick.
