Glenny Oesterling

Glenny Oesterling

In loving memory of our beloved Glenny Oesterling who passed away 12 years ago today.

My dear son,

It seems so long since I held your soft loving little boy face against my cheek. You were so cuddly. Even though you grew to be 47 years old, I still considered you my little boy.

We found out you were birth injured when you were nine months old. You weren’t able to walk right. We did everything possible for you to have a normal life. With all the braces, casts, transplants, operations, and wheelchairs you never complained.

At 16 Bill Young took you to Shriners Hospital where you had a complete spinal fusion. The doctor said if you didn’t have it, you would be a bed patient. With the fusion you were able to sit straight, lay straight, stand, but never walk. You were satisfied to be in a wheelchair.

You graduated from high school. You loved school especially Sister Helen’s classes at St. Paul’s. In high school, you got along with the kids real well. They helped you.

You carried the torch for Special Olympics and had many outside activities.

All your life you still had to get medical care but you grew with them. We were told your life span was 10-20 years, we had you 47.

You were religious and prayed a lot. It didn’t take long for us to know we had an Earth Angel. You were blessed by Jesus and the Blessed Mary. One of your favorite priests told your congregation, “Glenn taught me a lot about life.”

Your brother had a band, very busy and you were the manager. It was a versatile band, no hard rock, and we played for weddings, anniversaries, etc. When you were confined you had lots of visitors. God Bless Curt Weichey, your best friend. Sister Helen Marie and Father Bielewicz were your inspiration.

When Jesus took your hand and said “My Son your suffering is over, I’m taking you home to Heaven.” I held you to my cheek again and my nurse said he’s gone. You didn’t fuss and had a little smile. I held you for a little while your family was all there, except your dad who was waiting in Heaven for you. We all cried but knew it was God’s Will.

You are still very much loved and greatly missed. I’ll be joining you before long. I’m the last one of my family, 6 brothers, 2 sisters, you and Dad. Until then, pray for me and all of us down here. I am so glad I had you for my son.

Till I see you again,

Love and kisses,

Mom, Joe and Family, Mike, Gina and Family,

XXXOOO
