Penn's 39 gets medalist as Freeport golfers win

Butler's Nick Penrod hits his tee shot on the No. 6 hole Wednesday at Butler Country Club. Penrod shot a 39, but the Golden Tornado lost their match to North Allegheny.

Morgan Penn earned medalist honors with a 39 as Freeport's golf team cruised past Jeannette, 232-315, Wednesday afternoon.

The Yellowjackets improved to 4-1 overall, 3-1 in section play.

Mars 199, Kiski 226 — Luke Kasten shot a 39 and the Planets' other four golfers shot 40s in this win that improved Mars' record to 5-2.

North Allegheny 193, Butler 217 — A 39 from Nick Penrod wasn't enough to lead the Golden Tornado to victory at Butler Country Club.

Brett Brady added a 42 and Brayden Setnar a 44 for Butler (3-2, 2-2).

Pine-Richland 185, Seneca Valley 189 — Adam Bushee, Zach Brown and Zach Gehm each carded a 37, but the Raiders still dropped a close match at Treesdale.

KSAC Mega-Match — Moniteau won this Tuesday match at Cross Creek Resort, carding a 236 to beat out Clarion by five strokes. Karns City was third with a 248.

Moniteau's Weston Kimmey earned medalist honors with a 39. Karns City's Hunter Gifford was second with a 42. Tying for fifth with 44 were Moniteau's Nate Tack and Logan Inverse.

Girls Tennis

Butler dominated North Hills by a 5-0 score with the Golden Tornado's doubles teams of Sydney Hanratty/Jenna Kunst and Andrea Malacaman/Jill Ford both shutting out their opponents.

Butler is 4-1 overall and 2-1 in section matches.
