BUTLER CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

CHRIST COMMUNITY UNITED METHODIST

The care team of Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, meets at 7 p.m. Monday.

Former volunteers of the church work team have an appreciation dinner at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Covenant Church. Reservations are required.

The Saint Vincent DePaul food cupboard team meets at 8 a.m. Sept. 5.

COVENANT PRESBYTERIAN

Monthly cleaning day begins at 9 a.m. Saturday at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St. Take extra rags, buckets and cleaning supplies.

Covenant joins other Presbyterian congregations at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the Masonic Shelter at Alameda Park for “Worship without Walls.” There is a picnic after the service. Take a salad or side dish to serve 10.

FIRST BAPTIST

The First Baptist Christian School of First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St. has a booth from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the state Rep.Brian Ellis community night at the Butler Farm Show grounds.

Sunday’s service schedule includes a 6 p.m. worship service.

The deaf café with fellowship, a devotional and a guest speaker is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday. Take a lunch.

FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN

First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., has a blessing of the backpacks at the 9:30 a.m. Sunday worship service. Lunch is afterward at the church and swimming is in the afternoon at Alameda Waterpark.

GRACE@CALVARY LUTHERAN

The annual rummage and bake sales at Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St., Butler, is in progress until Saturday.

Grace’s Closet, a free clothing bank, is open from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.

The church celebrates its 126th anniversary Sunday.

GRACEWAY

GraceWay meets at the Center Township Elementary School on Mercer Road.

The Tom Walker family and Linda Grigor provide the special music during the Sunday worship service.

HILL UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Hill United Presbyterian Church, 201 Second St., will join A Worship Without Walls service with Butler area Presbyterian churches at the Masonic Shelter in Alameda Park at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Music will be provided by several of the churches.

A church picnic will follow for all. Attendees are asked to take a salad or side dish to serve 10 people. Hot dogs, drinks, and desserts will be provided by Hill Church.

Games for youths and fellowship will follow the picnic.

MARS UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

The middle school and high school youth group of Mars United Presbyterian Church, 232 Crowe Ave., Mars, has a “Start-Up Bash” at 5 p.m. Sunday for all youths.

The deacons meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the board room.

The A-team meets at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the office to make minor repairs at the church.

The material girls sewing group gathers at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the board room. Lunch is afterward.

NORTH MAIN STREET CHURCH OF GOD

Members of North Main Street Church of God, 1201 N. Main St. Ext., distribute backpacks and school supplies for students in need at 5 p.m. Sunday at the church’s Back to School Celebration at Rotary Park on the Island. There is a picnic dinner for the children and their parents afterward. The Celebrate Recovery Band is providing music.

There will be a baptismal service just before Sunday’s worship service.

OLD UNION PRESBYTERIAN

Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars, partners with Valencia Presbyterian Church and Mars United Presbyterian Church for a series of Wednesday evening gatherings beginning Sept. 20. Getting Renewed on Wednesday includes a meal, fellowship and learning for people of all ages.

The choir practices from 7:20 to 8 p.m. Sept. 6.

The Lord’s Supper is celebrated this week during worship.

RIDER LUTHERAN CHURCH

Rider Lutheran Church, 189 Rider Church Road, West Sunbury, has a blessing of the teachers and backpacks at its Sunday worship service.

SAINT ANDREWS UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Jefferson St., gathers with other local Presbyterian churches at 10:30 a.m. Sunday for a joint worship service at the Masonic Shelter at Alameda Park. There is a picnic afterward. Take salads or a side dish large enough to serve 10 people. Include a card with the name of the dish and its ingredients.

ST. LUKE’S LUTHERAN

The sanctuary of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 310 W. Main St., Saxonburg, will be open from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday for Community Prayer.

There will be a special student blessing Sunday for all ages.

The prayer circle meets at noon Tuesday and the AM Sewing group meets at 10 a.m. Aug. 31.

The Kiski Valley Community Band will perform a concert on the church lawn at 2 p.m. Sept. 10.

ST. MARK'S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN

Guest pastor the Rev. Jim Neal leads the Saturday service at St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Jefferson St. Sunday worship times are 8 and 10:15 a.m.

The church has its annual picnic from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Masonic Shelter at Alameda Park. The event includes food, fellowship and worship with Holy Communion.

The church office is closed Monday.

st. paul roman catholic

St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., celebrates a Mass in Spanish at 2 p.m. Sunday.

TRINITY LUTHERAN

The blessing of the backpacks will be at the 5:30 p.m. Saturday worship service and 10 a.m. Sunday service at Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, Center Township, which will be in the picnic pavilion, weather permitting.

Praying with a purpose service for the opioid problem in Butler will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday. All are welcome.

ZION LUTHERAN

Zion Lutheran Church, 266 Zion Church Road, Chicora, has a Church Council meeting at 9 a.m. Sunday. Worship and adult Bible study follow the meeting.
