Richard P. Berlin

Richard P. Berlin, 51, of Cranberry Township, formerly of Erie, passed away Sunday surrounded by his family at his home, after his courageous battle with cancer.

Rick was born March 17, 1966, in Erie, the son of Kenneth Eugene and Elaine Marie Celeski Berlin of Erie.

Rick is survived by his wife of 30 years, Susan Marie Learn Berlin; his daughter, Cassandra M. Brock, and her husband, Jason, of Cranberry Township; his son, Kevin R. Berlin, and his wife, Caitlyn, of Harmony; his grandchildren Jameson T. Brock and anticipated arrival of Baby Berlin in August; two brothers, Kenneth T. Berlin and his wife, Lisa, and Gregory A. Berlin and his wife, Shelly; his brother-in-law, Robert L. Learn, and his wife, Stacey; his sister-in-law, Tami S. Kimet, and her husband, Dan; and his in-laws, Robert and Eleanor Learn.

He is further survived by his nieces and nephews: Brandon, Brittany, Danielle, Sydney, Brock, Tori, Brooke, Kenny and Greg; and his great-niece, Jayden.

Rick also had a couple furry friends, his “K9 Crew,” Flurri and Layla by his side.

Rick was a member of St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Cranberry Township. He graduated from Erie Cathedral Preparatory School and Gannon University, and received his master of business administration from Penn State University. Rick began his career at GE in Erie. He most recently worked at Net Health in Pittsburgh.

Rick loved volleyball, hiking, kayaking, swimming, grilling, programming, flying/crashing/fixing drones, watching sports and slip-and-slide parties. More than anything, he treasured his family and friends. They meant the world to him, and he loved them dearly. Rick was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was always known to have a smile on his face and to be a kindhearted man.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Pete and Sally Celeski; his paternal grandparents, Paul and Mildred Berlin; and his mother-in-law, Barbara J. Learn.

BERLIN — Family and friends of Richard P. Berlin, who died Sunday, July 2, 2017, may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Dusckas-Taylor Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 5151 Buffalo Road (at Hannon Road in Harborcreek) and are invited to attend a prayer service there at 12:45 p.m. Friday.A funeral Mass will follow at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 1553 E.
