ZELIENOPLE — Local artist Diane Smith, has announced the release of her seventh limited edition print in her Zelienople/Harmony series Thursday.

“I was asked to do this as a surprise birthday present for one of the Shever girls by her very sweet husband!” Smith said on Facebook. “It is done in the same style and size as the other prints in the Zelienople/Harmony Series.”

She has been working on the series and working with the Zelienople Public Library to publish her work and sell prints.

Her latest piece, “The Old Shever Hardware Store,” is a tribute to the iconic building on Mercer Street in Harmony.

The first six prints in the Zelienople/Harmony series were entitled, “Santa House,” “4th of July,” “Halloween in Harmony,” “Summer Morn,” “Main Street, ”and “Baseball.”

Smith also created a print to commemorate the re-opening of the Strand Theater called, “Opening Night.”

Smith is a longtime member of the Zelienople a Public Library's book club, “The Bookies,” and she previously created a print illustrating the library's building on South High Street.

The “Old Shever Hardware Store” is a limited edition of 200 prints.

They are available for sale at the library. Other prints in the series also will be available at the library.

The Shever Hardware store started as the “Harmony Hardware” store in the early 1900s.

Ed Shever, the owner, renamed the store Shever Brothers Hardware around 1920 since his brothers, Harry and Herbert, also worked at the store.
