BlueSox lose 2 on road
The Kokomo Jackrabbits feasted on Butler’s starting pitchers over the weekend, posting Prospect League baseball victories of 8-5 on Saturday and 6-4 on Sunday.
Sunday’s game saw the Sox leading 4-2 after three and a half innings, but Kokomo plated three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning off Butler starter Mike Klingensmith.
The right-hander lasted 3 1/3 innings and gave up five runs on eight hits.
Wyatt Daugherty pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings of relief and Jack Herzing allowed an unearned run in two frames.
Butler’s offense was led by Brady Gulakowski, who doubled twice and scored twice. Erek Bolton had a pair of doubles and scored once.
Calvin Scott also had two hits for Butler (18-17), which dropped to fourth place in the East Division standings, three games behind leader Champion City.
In Saturday’s loss, Jake Stout allowed eight runs on 11 hits in five-plus innings as the Jackrabbits built an 8-2 lead and held off a Butler rally.
Tanner Murphy, Gulakowski and Pavin Parks each had two hits for the Sox, with Murphy scoring twice and Gulakowski homering and driving in two runs.
Butler returns home Tuesday, hostimng Cjhillicothe at 6:35 p.m. at Kelly Automotive Park.
