Shortly before selecting a jury for a sexual assault-related case, the defendant in that case entered a guilty plea in Butler County Court on Thursday.

Robert L. Scott, 40, of Butler, entered a guilty plea to a felony sex-related crime against a minor before county Judge Timothy McCune, according to Assistant District Attorney Richard Bosco.

Scott's attorney, Public Defender Charles Nedz, said the plea agreement calls for a state incarceration sentence of three to six years, followed by probation.

Bosco also said Scott will undergo a sexually violent predator evaluation and will be sentenced later.

Scott was initially charged with two felony counts of rape, statutory sexual assault, four counts of aggravated indecent assault, two counts of sexual assault, and four misdemeanor counts of indecent assault among other charges, after Butler Police alleged he sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl on more than one occasion between Sept. 28 and Oct. 2. Court documents state the girl accused Scott of sexual assault, and in a police interview he admitted to sexually assaulting the girl Sept. 28, but claimed that she initiated it.

When pressed about the multiple assaults, police said, “he indicated that he was unable to remember,” according to the officer's affidavit, and ended the interview and asked to speak to an attorney.

He was arraigned and held in the Butler County Prison on $100,000 bail since Oct. 5, 2016.
