Woman sentenced to prison
A Butler woman will be sentenced to several years in state prison, as well as 19 years of probation, after entering guilty pleas to 13 cases in Butler County Court on Tuesday.
Sarah Barkley, 28, will be sentenced to 2½ to 5 years in state prison and the probation on July 6, after entering pleas before county Judge Timothy McCune, to charges including felony possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, felony retail theft, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and many others.
In those cases, she pleaded guilty to misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia after an incident on Sept. 29, 2014, where authorities say she possessed stamp bags, spoons, syringes and crack pipes. She also pleaded guilty to misdemeanor conspiracy to theft by deception and theft by deception after an incident on Feb. 5, 2015, where authorities say she conspired with another person to obtain items from Walmart and complete false returns to the store.
Another case included charges of felony possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance after an incident on Sept. 25, 2014, where police said she delivered heroin.
In the fourth case, she pleaded to felony possession with intent to deliver and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance after an incident on Sept. 10, 2014, where authorities say she delivered heroin to another person.
The fifth case included the charge of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia after police say she was found with a spoon and three syringes on April 7, 2015.
The next case was also a paraphernalia charge, where police say she was found with two syringes on May 25, 2015.
She also pleaded to another misdemeanor paraphernalia charge after authorities say she was found with two syringes, a crack pipe and spoon on June 15, 2015.
The eighth case involved felony possession with intent and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance charges, after police say she delivered heroin to another person on Sept. 4, 2014.
Barkley also entered a guilty plea to charges of misdemeanor conspiracy to retail theft and retail theft after an incident on July 14, 2016.
She also pleaded guilty to felony retail theft after being charged in an incident on Dec. 21, 2016, where police say she stole clothing valued at $715 from JC Penny and Boscovs.
The 11th case included a plea to misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, after police say she was found with syringes on Feb. 25.
She also pleaded to felony criminal trespass, misdemeanor conspiracy to retail theft and retail theft after an incident at Kohls on Feb. 25. Authorities said due to pervious thefts, she was not allowed in the store, but had entered to return stolen merchandise with another person, and while there, stole more merchandise.
The final case included a plea to felony retail theft after an incident on March 1, where police say she stole meats and cheeses from Giant Eagle, valued at $65.
One other case, which involved felony possession with intent charges after an incident on Sept. 23, 2014, was withdrawn.
Barkley also faces charges in Westmoreland County on July 18.
