CRANBERRY TWP — A husband and wife are facing charges for a series of retail thefts at Costco.

Philip James Nagle, 58, and Susan Nagle, 62, both of New Brighton, allegedly stole more than $800 worth of merchandise during four visits to the store earlier this year.

The Nagles first entered the Costco on Feb. 24 and got a cart. Susan Nagle was carrying a large, black purse that was “obviously flat and nearly empty” that she put in the cart. according to court documents.

The couple then selected $334.80 worth of merchandise and concealed it in the purse, video surveillance shows.

Susan Nagle picked up the purse full of items and left without paying for them. She re-entered the store a few minutes later, and the couple made a small purchase before leaving again.

Again on March 17, April 7 and April 15, the Nagles entered Costco, got a cart and Susan Nagle placed a large, empty-looking purse in the cart. The couple then filled the purse with items and Susan Nagle picked up the purse and carried it out of the store without paying for the concealed merchandise.

The second trip they took $137.78 in merchandise, $243.77 the third trip and $91.89 the fourth trip.

Phillip and Susan Nagle face multiple charges of criminal conspiracy, retail theft, receiving stolen property and possessing instruments of a crime. Phillip Nagle has a prior conviction for retail theft, according to the affidavit.

Both Nagles waived all charges to county court Friday, where they'll be arraigned Aug. 1.
