JACKSON TWP — An electrical fire ignited in an unfinished building at a natural gas processing plant off Hartmann Road early this morning.

Chief Scott Garing of the Harmony Fire District said damage to the structure at the MarkWest’s Bluestone Processing Facility was minimal.

“It was an electrical fire confined to a building under construction,” he said.

Garing said the electricity to the structure, which was not yet hooked up to gas service, was shut off until wiring repairs could be done.

Along with Harmony, the Adams Area, Cranberry Township, Connoquenessing and Evans City volunteer fire departments responded to the 3:01 a.m. 911 call. Crews cleared the scene at 4:18 a.m.
