BUTLER TWP — Butler County Community College is now accepting applications from high school juniors for five XTO scholarships.
The college is offering five $3,500 scholarships that will fully fund tuition and books for high school juniors enrolled in BC3’s 15-credit Oil and Natural Gas Industry Workplace Certificate this fall.
Students in the Butler, Freeport, Karns City, Knoch, Mars, Moniteau, Seneca Valley and Slippery Rock school districts are eligible for the scholarships, which are funded through a $20,000 donation from XTO to the BC3 Education Foundation. Students must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 to qualify.
To accommodate the high school students’ schedules the five-course program will be spread over two years and take place in the evening, during the summer or online, college officials said.
