CRANBERRY TWP — Police are warning people to leave valuables at home after several cars were broken into at the community park.

Three cars had items stolen from them on the same night about a week and a half ago at the Cranberry Township Community Park, said Sgt. Chuck Mascellino. Two cars were broken into and one had been left unlocked, he said.

There also was another vehicle break-in Monday night at the park where a purse was stolen.

Police said the thefts are under investigation, but they're asking residents to take valuables with them when they leave their vehicles or to leave them at home.

“Please do not leave valuables in the vehicles at all, regardless of whether it's locked or not,” Mascellino said.

If you do plan to leave purses or other valuables in the car while you are out in public, have the items hidden where they cannot be seen from the outside before leaving the vehicle, police said. Most tinted windows are not dark enough to completely obscure the inside of a car, Mascellino said.
