A free Outdoor Discovery series at Alameda Park, conducted by the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department, will present “Alameda Park: History of Butler’s Movie Theaters” tonight and “Mad Science of Pittsburgh” on June 22. Moraine State Park, Muddy Creek Township, will host a “Salamander Safari” from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Friday (meet outside the Davis Hollow Marina Office on the North Shore); “Owl Prowl” from 8:30 to 10 p.m. Friday (meet beside Bear Run Launch on the South Shore); “Deer Trail Cameras” from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday (Moraine Outdoor Center); and family fishing from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday (Watt’s Bay, North Shore, call 724- 368-8811 for reservations).

McConnells Mill State Park, Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, off Route 422, is open 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily except closed Mondays. Programs include “Hightowering Hemlocks of the Slippery Rock Gorge” from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Friday at the Kildoo picnic area; and a Rocks & Boulders Hike from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday from the Point parking lot.
