A free Outdoor Discovery series at Alameda Park, conducted by the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department, will present “Alameda Park: History of Butler’s Movie Theaters” tonight and “Mad Science of Pittsburgh” on June 22. Jennings Environmental Education Center, Route 528, Brady Township, will host the Celebrate the Bloom! Summer Festival from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 29. Call 724-794-6011. Jennings is open regularly from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and on weekends as scheduled. The trails are open daily from sunrise to sunset.
Moraine State Park, Muddy Creek Township, will host a “Salamander Safari” from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Friday (meet outside the Davis Hollow Marina Office on the North Shore); “Owl Prowl” from 8:30 to 10 p.m. Friday (meet beside Bear Run Launch on the South Shore); “Deer Trail Cameras” from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday (Moraine Outdoor Center); and family fishing from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday (Watt’s Bay, North Shore, call 724- 368-8811 for reservations).

McConnells Mill State Park, Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, off Route 422, is open 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily except closed Mondays. Interpretive tours are available at 1 and 2 p.m. Call 724 368-8811. Programs include “Hightowering Hemlocks of the Slippery Rock Gorge” from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Friday at the Kildoo picnic area; and a Rocks & Boulders Hike from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday from the Point parking lot.
