SUMMIT TWP — The Butler School Board’s next meeting has been moved to the Herman Volunteer Fire Hall, the district announced today.

The board will have its education committee meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday, its finance committee meeting at 6:30 p.m. at its agenda-setting meeting at 7:30 p.m.

William Pettigrew, acting superintendent, said the agenda-setting meeting will include a presentation about Summit Township Elementary School from engineers with Gannett Fleming.

Gannett Fleming has been working with the district to make recommendations for correcting the problems with the school’s water system, which contains unsafe levels of lead and copper.

Though Pennsylvania American Water is planning to extend a public water line to the school this summer, Pettigrew said last week the students will start the year at Broad Street Elementary School in Butler so the district will have time to connect to the new line and run a series of tests to make sure the water safe to drink.

The fire hall is at 789 Herman Road.
