[naviga:h3]Whitmire cemetery service planned[/naviga:h3]

OAKLAND TWP — A memorial service is set at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Whitmire Family Cemetery, 136 Whitmire Road.

The cemetery contains graves of veterans of the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Civil War, World War II and the Vietnam War.

The ceremonial guard from the Lyndora American Legion will offer a salute to the veterans. Boy Scout Troop 30 from Oakland Township will present the colors.

Before the service, there will be a work day beginning at 9 a.m. at the cemetery. For more information, call Phyllis Fry at 724-679-6280.

New Beginnings Free Methodist Church, 416 Center Ave., will have a free clothing giveaway from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday in the church basement. For more information, call Sally Perkins at 724-290-2384.

[naviga:h3]Curious George coming to library[/naviga:h3]

SAXONBURG — Curious George will visit the South Butler Community Library, 240 W. Main St., June 15 to kick off the library’s summer reading program.

He will be available for photographs and story time at the library at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Curious George also will be available for photos and drop-in activities from 5 to 8 p.m. during Mingle on Main.
