Chain seeks site

Application filed in Cranberry Twp.

CRANBERRY TWP — A national automotive service chain is looking to locate in the township.

Supervisors held a public hearing Thursday on a conditional use application for National Tire and Battery at 20425 Route 19.

The 2.5-acre site sits next to the Butler Centre building and across Route 19 from American Way, the road that leads into The Streets of Cranberry.

The planned 6,777-square-foot building will be one story.

National Tire and Battery has more than 1,200 locations in 41 states and in Canada. It specializes in automotive fluids, batteries, wiper blades, brakes, steering, suspension, vehicle inspections and tires.

Ron Henshaw, township director of planning and development services, said the township worked with the developer to move the building closer to the road, which is what the township prefers to see over a parking lot in the front. The garage bays and parking will be behind the building.

The site will have an entrance and exit onto the existing driveway by Butler Centre.

National Tire and Battery is also seeking a preliminary and final land development application for the site. The board of supervisors will vote on both applications at its meeting tonight.
