Four Butler County teams will be in WPIAL softball playoff action beginning Monday.

Seneca Valley received a first-round bye in the 6A bracket and will play the winner of the Latrobe-Mount Lebanon game Wednesday at a site and time to be determined.

Knoch will square off with South Fayette in a first-round 4A game at 3 p.m. Monday at North Allegheny.

Freeport will battle Steel Valley in a 3A clash at 5 p.m. Monday at Fox Chapel.

In 2A, Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic will take on Shenango at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Hampton Field No. 2.

[naviga:h3]WPIAL boys lacrosse pairings[/naviga:h3]

Six Butler County boys lacrosse teams will be in playoff action beginning Tuesday.

Butler will take on Mt. Lebanon in a 3A match at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Peters Township.

Seneca Valley will host Franklin Regional at 8 p.m. Tuesday in another 3-A showdown.

Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic will play Gateway at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Seneca Valley in a 2-A match.

Mars received a bye in the 2-A playoffs and will play the winner of Knoch and South Fayette Thursday at 8 p.m.

Freeport will play Chartiers Valley in a 2-A match at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Upper St. Clair.

[naviga:h3]SV senior Reeb earns scholarship[/naviga:h3]

JACKSON TWP — Seneca Valley senior Joshua Reeb was recently selected to receive a Civilian Marksmanship Program scholarship for the 2016-17 academic year.

The CMP scholarship program awards 150 $1,000 college scholarships annually to outstanding high school seniors who participate in marksmanship competitions.

Reeb achieved his scholarship through his performance as a member of the Seneca Valley JROTC Raider Battalion Marksmanship team, along with excelling academically.

[naviga:h3]Mars’ Leachman USAT All-American[/naviga:h3]

ADAMS TWP — Mars freshman Zachary Leachman was recently named a 2016 USA Triathlon All-American.

Leachman finished the 2016 season ranked among the top five 15-year-old Male Triathletes in the nation. On May 7, he finished 13th among United States competitors and third in his age group at the 2017 Junior Elite Cup Series East Coast Triathlon Festival.

That qualifies Leachman to compete in the USAT Junior Elite National Championship in August.

Leachman is a member of the Mars High School track and cross country teams.
