SLIPPERY ROCK — An All-American track and field standout at Slippery Rock University has been invited to compete at a taping of the television show “American Ninja Warrior” in Cleveland.

Sabrina Anderson will show off her moves on Monday at Cleveland Public Square, where she will attempt to tackle an obstacle course that routinely frustrates top athletes from across the country. The taping comes just days after Anderson’s defense of her Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference heptathlon championship now under way through Saturday.

Anderson, who was named the 2016 PSAC Student of the Year and is on pace to finish her master’s degree in business administration after just one year, said she’s excited by the “American Ninja Warrior” challenge and has been training for about four weeks using the Aebersold Student Recreation Center’s rock wall.

“I’m really looking forward to it and excited that they picked me to come to the taping,” she said.

Anderson is competing in one of four city qualifiers the show is holding around the country. She’ll be timed and must post one of the 30 fastest opening round times to make it to the city finals in Cleveland on Tuesday. She would have to post one of the top 15 times there to make the show’s national finals, which will be held in Las Vegas in June.

The show is set to premier on June 12.
