Commissioners OK summer road projects
BUTLER TWP — Township commissioners approved more than three quarters of a million dollars worth of summer paving projects at their meeting Monday night.
The board, on a 4-0 vote, with commissioner Joseph Wiest abstaining, awarded the paving contract to Wiest Asphalt and Paving Inc. in the amount of $778,806.
The township’s summer road projects include asphalt and milling work on North Duffy Road, Hansen Avenue, Bessemer Avenue, Camelot Drive and Litman Road.
In a cooperative agreement dealing with Bonnie Drive, commissioners also approved a $10,000 contribution to Summit Township to cover the paving of a cul-de-sac at the end of the road, which runs alongside PPC Lubricants and is located in Butler Township. Commissioners also said the township’s road crew would aid Summit Township supervisors in refurbishing and widening a portion of Bonnie Drive which has fallen into disrepair because of tractor-trailers that use the road for shipments to and from the company’s factory.
