LYNDORA — Butlerpex 2017, the 71st annual stamp and postcard exhibition and bourse of the Butler County Philatelic Society, will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 12 and 13 at the Tanglewood Center, 10 Austin Ave.
The event will include a cachet envelope and insert card that features a county law-enforcing drug and crime dog.
Fourteen dealers will offer philatelic supplies, stamps and collectible postcards. There also will be stamp album appraisals, an exhibition, a post office, a snack bar, a table auction and children’s area.
Admission and parking are free.

SAXONBURG — The South Butler Community Library, 240 W. Main St., will have the following programs in May:
“Frog Watch,” presented by the Audubon Society, 6 p.m. May 2.
“Taxes in Retirement,” 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. May 16
The Better Living Series will be at 11 a.m. every Friday in May:

“Declare Independence in Your Home,” May 12
“Stay Well with Nutrition,” May 19
“Boost Your Memory Power,” May 26.

[naviga:h2]Registration open for Mars run/walk[/naviga:h2]
MARS — Mars Area High School Marching Band Boosters is taking registrations for its ninth annual “Mars Band on the Run.” The 5K Run/Walk, 10K and 1K Children’s Fun Run will begin at 8:55 a.m. May 20 at Mars High School, 520 Route 228.
The non-competitive 1K Children’s Fun Run for children ages 11 and younger will be immediately after the 10K and 5K events. A post-race “Out of This World” party will include refreshments, music, prizes and an awards ceremony.
All proceeds benefit Mars Area High School Marching Band, which will provide entertainment along the 3.1-mile race route. To register online or to print a registration form, visit www.marsband5k.com.
[naviga:h2]Tool bash scheduled at airport[/naviga:h2]
PENN TWP — The Penn Township Volunteer Fire Department will host its annual tool bash from noon to 6 p.m. May 6 at the Pittsburgh-Butler Regional Airport, 475 Airport Road.
Major tools and cash will be given away every 15 minutes. There also will be food, beverages, other raffles and 50/50 games.
