BRADY TWP — Jennings Environmental Education Center, 2951 Prospect Road, will offer a springtime stroll from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Friday.

Jennings’ staff will lead this free, informal walk to explore and experience springtime wonders.

“Take Back the Woods: Battling Invasive Species” will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 22 to celebrate Earth Day. Participants will help remove invasive plants at the center.

Participants must be 12 or older and be prepared to work outdoors, rain or shine.

Registration is required. Register by Friday on DCNR’s Calendar of Events at http://events.dcnr.pa.gov/ or call 724-794-6011.

[naviga:h2]Freeport Library hosts huge sale[/naviga:h2]

FREEPORT — The Freeport Library, 428 Market St., will sponsor a spring fundraising flea market and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 22 at the library.

Featured items will include seasonal decor, toys, games, puzzles, jewelry, household items, vintage treasures and baked goods. A selection of used books in many genres will be for sale, as well as children’s books, DVDs and CDs.

[naviga:h2]Library to stage Star Wars Day[/naviga:h2]

ZELIENOPLE — The Zelienople Public Library, 227 S. High St., will host its annual Star Wars Day from 2 to 4 p.m. April 29.

Children ages 3 and up will celebrate “Star Wars” and reading with crafts, games and a visit from the 501st Legion Garrison Carida. Costumes will be welcome but lightsabers and blasters will not be allowed.

[naviga:h2]Innovation camp registering now[/naviga:h2]

MARS — May 12 is the deadline to register for Mars School District’s “Camp: Planet Innovation” scheduled from 8:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. June 19 to 22 at Mars Area Centennial School, 100 Winfield Manor Drive.

The program is for district students now in grades three to six and will include sessions on computer-aided drafting, computer programming, engineering by design, dance choreography, news broadcasting, recycling and many other topics.

[naviga:h2]Annual karaoke fundraiser planned[/naviga:h2]

MARS — Mars VFW Post 7505, 331 Mars-Valencia Road, will have its third annual fundraiser for the families of cancer patients, Karaoke for a Cure, April 29.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. and karaoke will begin at 7 p.m. There also will be food, raffles, an auction and games.
