First Baptist holds open house

First Baptist Christian School, 221 W. New Castle St., will have an open house from 6 to 7 p.m. April 20.

It will include classroom visits, teacher meetings, a slide show and refreshments.

Career fair set at St. Andrew hall

There will be a career fair from 6 to 8 p.m. April 25 at the St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church hall, 1660 N. Main St. Extension.

Sponsored by the Butler County Youth Initiative, more than 30 careers will be represented along with local schools specializing in career options. Several employers offering part-time or summer employment also will participate.

Visitors to the career fair should come prepared to complete an application.

The party will include lunch, raffles and a vocalist, all to benefit local scholarships and the Freeport Library.

PENN TWP — Nixon Preschool and Nixon United Methodist Church will sponsor the fifth annual 5K fundraiser at 9 a.m. April 29.

The walk/run begins at the church, 334 W. Airport Road, and loops around the neighborhood. This is a family-friendly event for walkers and runners of all abilities.

Children age 6 and younger may participate in the Tot Trot at about 10:30 a.m.

Babe the BlueSox Ox will visit, and there will be a basket auction.
