PARKER — An Armstrong County man who started his career as a tree trimmer with Central Electric Cooperative in 1982 has been named the company’s new manager of operations.

John Evankovich was promoted to the position earlier this week, the company announced in a news release.

He had been serving as CEC’s superintendent since September of 2015, after joining the company as a tree trimmer in 1982 and working in various positions on the line crew since 1985.

Fred Terwilliger, the company’s assistant general manager, said Evankovich’s long tenure with the company has left him prepared to assume his new duties.

“John is well prepared to step into the manager of operations’ role,” Terwilliger said in a news release.

Evankovich graduated from Williamsport Area College in 1982 with an electrical construction degree, and has since attended Butler County Community College and other “job-related schools,” according to CEC. He lives in Perry Township, Armstrong County with his wife, Mitzi. They have five children and four grandchildren.

CEC serves about 25,000 members and has more than 3,000 miles of distribution line in portions of Butler, Allegheny, Armstrong, Clarion, Forest, Mercer and Venango counties.
