Death ruled homicide

CONCORD TWP — A Kittanning man with roots in Butler was found dead Saturday afternoon.

Gregory W. Bosko, 55, was discovered in a wooded area off Redbud Road in the township around 4:10 p.m., according to a state police news release.

Butler County Coroner William Young III ruled the death a homicide.

Young said the cause of death was “sharp trauma of the neck.”

He said Bosko's body was found laying next to a creek, so it remained damp.

“He didn't overdecompose,” Young said.

He said the neck wound was not recent.

Bosko was reported missing on March 20. He was last seen driving on West Cunningham Street in the city of Butler, according to his family.

Kittanning police had been investigating his disappearance.

State police Friday night through Saturday were searching for him in Center and Oakland townships with the aid of the Oneida Valley Volunteer Fire Department.

Police were using the fire station on Route 38 as a command post.

State police Lt. Eric Hermick said Saturday morning state police had reason to believe there was foul play and there were indications that Bosko had suffered “substantial injuries.”

Because of what police knew at that time, they anticipated grim findings.

Bosko's car was towed on March 24 after Butler city police found it parked on West Wayne Street with two people inside, Deputy Chief Dave Adam said.

Joshua K. Greaves, 34, of Mercer, Mercer County, and Tiffany N. Hilliard, 30, of Butler, were charged for giving police false names and booked in Butler Prison County on bench warrants.

Greaves was also charged with having three stamp bags of heroin on his person.

He is jailed Butler County Prison in lieu of $2,500 bond while she is incarcerated in lieu of two bonds totaling $4,000.

According to the affidavits, police responded a call about a suspicious white sedan on West Wayne Street with the occupants possibly using drugs.

The affidavits state police saw two women and a man exit the car.

According to the affidavit, the man appeared to be nervous upon seeing police approach on foot and gave and gave a false name when asked to identify himself.

When police found Greaves' wallet, he reportedly gave his real name and admitted he was wanted. Hilliard has warrants from the Butler County sheriff's office and Lawrence County.

He allegedly had three white stamp bags of heroin in his right front watch pocket.

Hilliard then allegedly gave a false first name to police before disclosing her real name and that she also was wanted.

Her warrant is from state probation and parole.

Daniel Bosko, Gregory Bosko's brother, said he was relieved when his brother was found, but then “shocked” to learn of the circumstances.

Police are continuing to investigate his death. No other information was immediately available.
