Cabot man makes case for colleges
BUTLER TWP — A Butler attorney and trustee of Butler County Community College has been selected by the Pennsylvania Commission for Community Colleges to speak in Harrisburg Tuesday during an annual lobbying event.
Joseph Kubit, 54, of Cabot, is a graduate of Knoch High School and the University of Pittsburgh. He earned an associate degree in secondary education from BC3 in 1984, before going on to earn degrees in psychology and law from Pitt.
Kubit will be a featured speaker during an 11 a.m. news conference in the Rotunda of the state Capitol Building.
He will be joined by Scott Duffy, a Delaware County Community College student who succeeds BC3’s Maizee Zaccone as the 2017 New Century Scholar, and Thomas Leary, the chairman of the Pennsylvania Commission for Community Colleges.
BC3 officials said Kubit plans to speak about “success stories” he and his relatives attribute to the community college.
Five members of Kubit’s family have attended the college and gone on to successful careers — including one who works as an engineer with the Academy Awards.
Nick Neupauer, BC3 president, called Kubit the perfect ambassador for the college.
“Joe Kubit is an incredible example of what our institute of higher education produces,” he said. “High-quality students who make an impact in society.”
