Philip F. Stebler Jr.
Philip F. Stebler Jr., 88, of Cranberry Township passed away Sunday.
He was the husband of the late Dorothy “Dotty” Fennell Stebler; the beloved father of Edward Stebler, Karen (Richard) Nadrash, Dennis (Donna) Stebler, Gary (Nancy) Stebler and the late Kenneth Stebler; the loving brother of Marianne Simile, James Stebler and the late Edward Stebler; the proud grandfather of 11; and the great-grandfather of 17.
Phil proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine during World War II and the Korean War. He attended both St. Vincent College and Duquesne University.
Phil enjoyed a long career, serving as president of both Esser Costume Co. and Stebler Homes, where he developed homes in Fox Chase, Stone Mansion and Antler Point.
He also volunteered his time and expertise in a number of associations, such as the National Costumers Association, the Builders' Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh and the North Suburban Builders Association.
In addition to industry associations, Phil contributed to numerous civic groups. He served on the North Hills School Board, as the treasurer of the North Hills Secondary School Council, as the past president of CODA (Concerned Citizens of Drug Abuse), as a past trustee of PREP (Pittsburgh Recreation and Education Program), as the founder and past president of the Pittsburgh Toastmasters 2955, as the first vice president of the PA Jaycees and as the national director of the US Jaycees.
Phil was chairman of both the Marshall Township Recreation Board and the Marshal Township Auditors. In the Cranberry Township area, Phil was very active in VFW Post 879, serving as chaplain, and briefly served on the Cranberry Township Advisory Panel.
Although Phil dedicated much of his time to professional and civic duties, he still made time with his family to enjoy activities, such as trekking (inventing and receiving a patent), boating, water skiing, scuba diving and snowmobiling.
STEBLER — Friends of Philip F. Stebler Jr., who died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME OF CRANBERRY, 2678 Rochester Road.A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Ferdinand Church.
