Harry A. Fleming

Harry A. Fleming, 90, of Winfield Drive, Grove City, passed into eternity Sunday at Trinity Living Center of Grove City.

He was born Nov. 25, 1926, in Richland Township, Clarion County, the second son of John and Myrtle Stalker Fleming.

Harry was a World War II veteran and was honorably discharged in May of 1947 from the U.S. Marine Corps, having served in the Fourth Division in the South Pacific.

On Aug. 19, 1950, he married Marjorie Louis Badger, who survives but chose to separate after the family was raised.

Harry retired in January of 1980 from the Pennsylvania Bureau of Corrections, where he was a prison guard at West Penitentiary for 19 years. He formerly was employed by Quaker State Refinery, Republic Steel Corp and Cooper Bessemer.

He was an avid hunter, particularly being fond of his beagles and their ability to harvest rabbits on a regular basis.

Surviving are two sons, Harry A. Fleming and his wife, Kathy, of Smethport, Pa., and Joel B. Fleming and his wife, Joyce, of Mercer; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert E. of Foxburg, Ronald L. and wife, Sandy, of Knox and Charles R. and his wife, Judy of Foxburg; and one sister, Norma Slaugenhoup and her husband, Phil, of Parker; and many nieces and nephews also survive.

His parents and two brothers, John and James, preceded him in death.

FLEMING — Visitation for Harry A. Fleming who died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017, will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cunningham Funeral Home, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City, with the Rev. Scott Bates of Mercer Baptist Church officiating. Burial with military honors will take place at Eau Claire Cemetery.
