A fire burned most of a Cranberry Township home's interior Tuesday.

Smoke started billowing from a single-story home at 269 Sherwood Drive around noon.

No injuries were reported.

"I smelled the smoke first. Then I came outside and you couldn't see anything," said neighbor Karen Miller.

Miller said the home's residents have not lived there long. One person was home at the time of the fire.

"It's a shame. They were fixing up the place," she said.

Fire crews from the township, Adams Area Fire District, Callery, Big Knob, Harmony and Marshall Township were on the scene.

Firefighters sprayed water from the inside. The fire caused major damage to the home's roof and interior. The fire was put out by 1 p.m.

Sherwood Drive and part of Robinhood Drive are still closed while hotspots are being put out.

Township police and EMS are also on the scene.

EMS Chief Jeff Kelly said "a couple" firefighters were evaluated for heat related issues. However, no one was transported for injuries.

A cat was rescued from the home. Earlier reports stated it was a dog.

Township public safety director Dave Gallagher said firefighters believe the fire started in the garage.

However, firefighters' investigation is not complete.
